Creating and Editing User Roles is Essential for Dealership Security
WebBuy was built to ensure maximum flexibility for dealers to empower their staff with different abilities to access and edit information however they see fit. This requires some setup, but allows the dealer to make sure client data is safe, and deals won't go sideways on them.
Your WebBuy dealer control center will come with a set of default user roles (General Manager, Sales Manager, Sales Rep, etc...) to get you started. It's important to go through them and make any changes to the permissions necessary to meet your organizations requirements.
Dealers can have as many or as few roles as they want, but they'll have to make sure that every WebBuy user at the dealership has a role assigned to them. The role a user is assigned will dictate what they can and cannot do within the application.
You can create a new user role by navigating to the "Users and Roles" section of your account settings and clicking on "User Roles." The User Roles page will have a button in the top right where you can add a "New Role." Alternatively, if you'd like to edit a role that already exists, you can click the pencil icon for that role in the list of existing user roles.
Permissions
When you set up a new role, you'll have to specify what people in that role have access to. For all the different parts of the application settings, clients, analytic data, etc... you'll have to decide whether that role can view, edit, add/create, or delete data and settings.
If you are first setting up your account, we recommend being a little conservative with these permissions. You'll run into situations where employees may need you to go in and give them permission for something, but it will help you keep a tighter rein on what's happening in the application. You can decide whether users really need access to things as different cases come up.
